EPL Matchweek 28 Preview

Crystal Palace v. Fulham

Crystal Palace absolutely stole a win from Brighton last time out on Monday. Roy Hodgson’s side plays some negative football, attempting to avoid defeat at most times, but will see a chance to play more freely against a Fulham side trying to avoid relegation. Fulham has played better football than their record would indicate, including going without defeat in 4 straight league games. Both teams are likely to be content with a share of the points and with Palace missing their most dynamic attacker, Wilfried Zaha, goals could be hard to come by.

The Bet: Under 2.5 Goals

Alternate Bet: Game to End in a Draw

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 Fulham

Leicester City v. Arsenal

Leicester City suffered heartbreak last time out when they were bounced from the Europa League by Slavia Prague. Leicester’s poor performance in Europe is not indicative of their Premier League form, however. Jamie Vardy is ramping up his minutes since becoming fit again and he owns a clinical record against Arsenal in his career. Arsenal have improved their league play under Arteta recently, save for a defeat against Manchester City which everyone has experienced this season. The Gunners needed top striker Pierre Emrick Aubameyang to save them in Europe on Thursday and his confidence seems to be back. Between Vardy’s scoring record against Arsenal, Aubameyang heating back up, and Arsenal’s propensity to give up easy goals, this could be a back and forth thriller.

The Bet: Both Teams to Score: Yes

Alternate Bet: Over 2.5 Goals

Sprinkle Bet: Game to End in a Draw

Prediction: Leicester City 2-1 Arsenal

Tottenham v. Burnley

I can not wait to watch Jose Mourinho’s Spurs take on Sean Dyche’s Burnley...said no one ever. If someone scores a goal in this match they ought to take the ball home as a lifelong keepsake. This match will be decided by who parks the bus harder. Obviously Tottenham has world class players, especially up front in Kane and Son, but Dyche has had a remedy for top goal scorers all season, and that is to put so many defenders in their face that they can’t even manage a touch inside the box. Quality always comes through in the end, but we could be waiting upwards of 80 minutes to see a celebration.

The Bet: Under 2.5 Goals

Alternate Bet: Both Teams to Score: No

Prediction: Tottenham 1-0 Burnley

Chelsea v. Manchester United

The premier match of the Premier League this weekend. Two massive clubs contending for top 4 Champions League spots will face off in London. Since Thomas Tuchel took over Chelsea they have been stought in front of goal. Clean sheets have become a norm for a team that has spent most of their transfer budget on attackers recently. Manchester United boast perhaps the most dynamic player in the league in Bruno Fernandes. How the Blues decide to handle the gifted Portugesue attacking midfielder will be the key as to who gets the result.

The Bet: Game to End in a Draw

Alternate Bet: Both Teams to Score: Yes

Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Manchester United

Sheffield United v. Liverpool

Liverpool, Liverpool, Liverpool, what ever will we do with you? One of the greatest Premier League teams of all time last year has become far too easy to play against this season. Losers of 4 in a row, their form screams of dire desperation, and if there is any time to cure those blues it is Sheffield United. Sheffield have scored the least goals of any team in the Premier League this season and not even Liverpool’s injury riddled defense could alter that statistic. Consensus thinking says this is an easy slump buster for Liverpool, sometimes consensus can be complicated. Lay the goals on Liverpool and hope that the quality comes through.

The Bet: Liverpool to Cover 1.5 Goals

Prediction: Sheffield 1-3 Liverpool

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Transfer of the Week: Jamie Vardy, ST, Leicester City

Jamie Vardy has been one of the most consistent goal scorers in the Premier League the last few years. He is most consistent, against Arsenal. In his last 7 matches against the Gunners, Vardy has 8 goals. His price tag is high, at $10.2, but he is cheaper than Harry Kane and a better bet at scoring this weekend. Transfer him in and put him in your starting lineup and watch him terrorize Arsenal yet again.
