Best Future Bets:
Liverpool to Win the League (+250)
Full disclosure, I am a Liverpool fan, but this is far from a homer bet. Last year the Reds were inches away from an unprecedented quadruple run of trophies. They took home both English Cup competitions and were an Aston Villa meltdown and a lucky Real Madrid UCL victory away from adding two more pieces of silverware. This year they return with a vengeance seeking to knock Manchester City off their consistent pedestal. It is hard to say, but even with the departure of attacking mainstay, Sadio Mane, Liverpool has gotten better. Luis Diaz is the straight replacement for him on the wing and will now be fully acclimated into Jurgen Klopp's system after coming over in January. Darwin Nunez comes over for $100 million from Benfica and will be the best traditional #9 Klopp has ever had. These additions alone will replace the goal contributions Mane put up last year while the team avoided losing any other starting caliber players. It is time for Liverpool to win title #2 in the Premier League era.
Arsenal to Finish Top-4 (+160)
Okay, I have fully bought into the hype. Arsenal is the club in the best form at the moment following a blistering preseason tour. They dismantled rivals Chelsea and beat a solid Sevilla team 6-0. New signing Gabriel Jesus comes over from Manchester City eager to finally have a nailed on starting role and is destined to score loads of goals. Last year's youngest side in the league has only grown as manager Mikel Arteta is finally getting the most out of his players. The only thing stopping them from playing in the Champions League next year is a historic meltdown which, to be fair, would be oh so classic Arsenal.
Nottingham Forest Top Promoted Club (+130)
I drilled this exact same bet last year with Brentford, and to be honest, it wasn’t even close with the other two newly promoted teams getting relegated right back down. Forest is in the Premier League for the first time in a long time and they are determined to stay up. After winning the most expensive match in football they immediately put their new funds to good use. They have spent among the most money in all of Europe this summer bringing in Neco Williams, Orel Mangala, Taiwo Awoniyi, Moussa Niakhate, Jesse Lingard, and most importantly of all: goalkeeper Dean Henderson. This team should be nailed on to avoid the drop, anything other than that would be a massive disappointment
Everton to be Relegated (+380)
No, this is not another homer bet because I am a Liverpool supporter, this one is based on facts which I will lay out doing my best Dwight Schrute impression.
Fact: Everton’s best player last year was Richarlison who they sold to Tottenham and haven’t replaced
Fact: Dominic Calvert-Lewin, their only striker, is injury prone and already set to miss the start of the season
Fact: They got incredibly lucky to escape relegation last year and have made no significant improvements to their team
To the pit of misery (the EFL Championship) go the Toffees.
Southampton to be Relegated (+300)
I predicted this result last year but I may have jumped the shark. I expect this, instead, to be the season it all falls apart for the Saints. Their team lacks excitement. They have no elite goal scoring options and play a traditional midfield lacking a #10 and simply relying on James Ward-Prowse set pieces to score goals. Their manager, Ralph Hassenhutl, is the odds on favorite to be the first man sacked this year. I just don’t envision them scoring enough goals to win games and I also can’t see them having some sort of good enough defense to avoid losing games. It all spells doom and gloom from here on out for the south coast of England as I also have Bournemouth going down with them.
Bonus Player Specials:
Harry Kane Top Goal Scorer (+550)
He ranks 3rd top favorite for the golden boot which is great value for arguably the most established striker in the English game. Yes, Salah is the most prolific player in the EPL, but Kane plays the critical central role and his team is better this year and further developed heading into the first full season under Antonio Conte. Kane is a great bet for a massive bounceback season.
Trent Alexander-Arnold Top Assister (+800)
No, for the last time, this is not a homer bet. Kevin De Bryune is the proper favorite for this bet but he is too chalky to take. Getting arguably the best passer of the ball at +800 here is great value. Plus, TAA will get to whip crosses in to the most traditional #9 he’s ever played with at Liverpool in the 6’2’’ Darwin Nunez.
My FPL Team to Start the Season:
Ederson
Trent Alexander-Arnold | Kyle Walker | Neco Williams
Mohamed Salah | Kevin De Bryune | Gabriel Martinelli | Brendan Aaronson | Leon Bailey
Harry Kane | Gabriel Jesus
Bench: Danny Ward | Nathan Patterson | Rayan Ait-Nouri | Cameron Archer
